CAMPING

Generations of families have made the annual migration to the Methow Valley to camp by the river under towering Ponderosas, to hike its endless trails, and to fall asleep each night -- tired and content -- under a million bright stars.

Camping options range from simple National Forest tent sites up the Twisp, Chewuch, and Lost River drainages, to KOA or State Park camping conveniently located near Winthrop.

Hiking on Easy Pass

Whatever your base-camp style, between the Methow Valley Sport Trails Association’s well maintained and easily accessed trails, the National Forest, the Pasayten and Sawtooth Wilderness Areas, and North Cascades National Park Complex, one could spend a lifetime in the Methow, sauntering along its limitless paths.  Winthrop Mountain Sports and Trails End Bookstore offer hiking maps and guidebooks.

“The majority of the Methow’s 200 km of winter ski trails become biking, hiking, running and horse-riding trails in the summer months. Later in the summer, don’t miss some of the best day hikes in the country, such as Blue Lake or Harts Pas.  Maple Pass is a fall classic.”
Jay Lucas, Executive Director or MVSTA.
