Please check back with us - our Auto Rallye schedule of events for 2010 has not been determined as of yet.

Below is a schedule we have had in the past - expect something similar for 2010.

It all starts on Friday evening from 5 to 7 pm with registration and a social and refreshment hour for rallye participants at the Red Barn (visible as one heads east into Winthrop from the North Cascades Highway 20)    Saturday begins with a continental breakfast, late Auto Rallye 2008registration and parade line-up from 8-9:30 am at the Winthrop Inn.  The downtown parade will start at 11 am with individual introductions by our knowledgeable MC (horsepower displays are encouraged!).   Show and Shine will be from 12 to 3 pm with judging conducted throughout the show by our adept staff.  During Show 'n Shine, relax or dance to classic oldie songs played by Winthrop's own River Town Ramblers and enjoy a barbeque on the street in an authentic 1951 Double Decker Bus or in one of Winthrop's yummy eateries.  The award presentation will commence at 4 pm once the final results have been tallied.   From 4:30 to 5 pm join us for a 16 mile cruise/bucket run that will traverse the beautiful Methow Valley.

Celebrating our 34th anniversary, the Winthrop Auto Rallye continues the tradition of excellence by presenting the "Winthrop Cup" for Best in Show for 2009.  Judging will be performed by representatives with knowledge and expertise in fields relative to the following automotive classes:

Best Antique (pre 1940) - 1st & 2nd places
Best Classic (1940-1970) - 1st & 2nd places
Best Rod - 1st & 2nd places
Best Tractor - 1st & 2nd places
Best Truck - 1st & 2nd places
Best Work in Progress - 1st & 2nd places
Best Special Interest - 1st & 2nd places
Best of Show - People's Choice - the Famed Winthrop Cup

At 7 pm, join us for the Dollar Watch Cowboy Jamboree inside the Red Barn. It is a hilarious trip down the memory trail as we revisit the golden age of radio, beneath a western moon and surrounded by the spirited history of the Methow Valley. Best in Show winner 2008  Horse Crazy, our cowgirl house band will be here and are sure to set your toes a tappin'.    Don't miss it. Enjoy some classic entertainment, make some new friends or just have a whale of a good time!

With night fallen over the mountains, mosey on back to your bunkhouse for a little shut eye before ya head back over the hills! Pre-registration, at discount rates, is encouraged to insure enough snacks and prizes for everyone. Learn how by calling: 888-463-8469 or email: info@winthropwashington.com

Mike Woodard, owner of the 1947 Ford COE pictured above says "I was interested in building a car hauler for my 1935 Ford 5W coupe. So I could haul it to local race events. My original plan was to lengthen a 1936 1 1/2 ton truck.  A good friend in our local car club knew of this 1947 COE for sale and thought it might work better since I would not have to lengthen the frame. It already has the correct cab to axle length for the roll back deck. I decided to buy it partly because of the uniqueness and partly because two car club members were restoring COE's themselves. And the sharing of knowledge and skills would be extremely helpful in completing the restoration.

The engine is the original "Flathead V-8" and features a 4" Mercury crankshaft, bigger valves - 1.6", original Johnson lifters, .355 lift Schneider camshaft. The transmission is from a 1952 Dodge truck. It is five speed with fifth gear being overdrive. A rare transmission that took about one year to find all the parts to rebuild. The rear end is the original two speed vacuum shift.

The hydraulics for the deck are a 1980's 17' Jerr-Dan deck that I fitted to the truck frame. The deck is made from two original Ford "Script" decks that I found in Glasgow Montana, and made a 16' deck from the two 12' decks. The oak boards for the deck came from Ohio as rough cut timber.
It has been a challenging project and has taken over six years to complete. I have done most of the work myself. But I could not have done it with out the help from many friends in the car club or all the support from my wife Carol."
